The Vélo d'Or™ Legacy
For more than thirty years, the Vélo d'Or™ has stood as the most prestigious distinction in world cycling. Created in 1992 by Vélo Magazine, it rewards each season the rider – and since 2022, the female rider – who has most marked the year with their achievements.
More than just a trophy, the Vélo d'Or™ is a symbol: it celebrates not only victory, but also flair, consistency, and the ability to thrill fans throughout the season. Through its various categories, it shines a light on the champions shaping the future of the sport. The winners are chosen by an international panel of cycling journalists. Since 2023, an annual awards ceremony held in Paris has crowned this celebration of cycling.
To give fans a voice, we are launching in 2025 the "Vélo d'Or™ Fan Awards", a new distinction that will allow you to vote for your favorite riders and teams.
